Music

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. At Cadishead Primary Academy, we teach a high quality Music education which engages and inspires children to develop a love for Music. Through high quality teaching, children will be given opportunities to increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As children progress, they will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to listen, compose, perform and appraise.

At Cadishead Primary Academy, Music is a practical subject which is enjoyed by all. From an early age, children have an awareness of rhythm, pitch and sounds around them and these are developed on entry to school. Children with a particular interest or aptitude in Music are given the opportunity to extend their education in a variety of ways, for example, choir, and instrumental performances in Assembly. We are very lucky to have specialised teachers to teach keyboard, violin, drums, recorder, singing and guitar lessons, using the Salford Music Service and other specialist teachers.

Whole School Singing

Here is a video of the whole school singing ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman in our certificate assembly.

Choir

We have a fantastic school choir for the children in Key Stage 2. They meet weekly to practise and rehearse a wide range of songs for a number of events throughout the year. In February, the choir attended Young Voices which is a concert that believes in inspiring the next generation to find their love for music. Over 2 million children have taken part in a Young Voices concert and each night, between 5,000-8,000 children perform as a single choir to a sold-out audience of family and friends.

Here is a short clip from the Young Voices concert!

Cadishead Primary’s school choir is run by two very dedicated and talented members of staff. Mrs Whittaker and Miss Jago inspire the children in our school choir and make the choir a fun and exciting group to be a part of.

Drumming

Drumming lessons are a very popular at Cadishead Primary. Each year, our drumming teacher Johnny arranges a whole school performance where the children in his drumming lessons can celebrate their successes and talents with our school family.

Trombone

All children are taught a musical instrument during their time at Cadishead Primary, this is done through the Salford Music Service Wider Opportunities Scheme. Currently Year 4 children have specialist teachers once a week and are learning to play the trombone. We hope this unearths talent and ignites a flame in some leaners that leads to a life long love of music and performance. Previously, our classes have also learned ukelele in this way.
